Ron Kirkman, who died on 22 February at age 83, was a member of Accies in its various incarnations from its early days until 2010, by which time he was second only to Jim Willerton in age in the QLL. Until illness restricted his mobility he would always turn up to games home and away. While never a potential Mastermind, he could usually be relied upon for the odd nugget of knowledge none of his team mates knew. Ron enjoyed a pint, was always good company in his quiet and modest way, and the tributes that have come in from former team mates and other league players demonstrate the esteem in which he was held. Away from quizzes and pubs Ron played cricket and football until well into his 50s. He will be much missed.
