The genesis of Pericardium lay in discussions between David Stainer and Nic Paul in 2008.

Our membership has changed gradually over the years, with David Stainer, Kathryn Johnson and Jenny Ryan having been members since the team's formation (albeit with Jenny having a long gap away from the team between 2009 and 2018). Another founder member, and deputy captain, Gareth Kingston left to join Victoria Plums in 2018. Our other current squad members are Quentin Holt, who has played for us since 2009; Iain Thoms, who has played for us since 2012; Nick Summerfield, who has played for us since 2016; and Jack Bennett, who has played for us since 2017. Our full-time QM is Lucy Brant. Chris Clough of Thread Vietnam signed "on loan" for 2021-22 given Thread are sitting out the season. Anne Hegerty and Toby Cox join us for buzzer events.

Our early years saw promotion to Division I after just one season, and three consecutive All-London Cup finals (one under the name Myocardium), finally claiming victory with a 53-47 defeat of league champions Nomads in 2011-11.

From our 2009 debut in Division I we established ourselves as one of the leading QLL teams while never quite managing to claim a league title, with best finishes of second in 2009-10 and 2013-14, to Broken Hearts and Nomads respectively. That run was finally ended in 2021-22 when we won the title by a single point on a dramatic final day of the season when neither of our title rivals managed to win their matches.

We play in a variety of other competitions including academic and other buzzer quizzes (we have won three QLL buzzer quizzes) and table quizzes (including the European club quiz championship, where we have previously finished in the top 10, and the QLL charity night, which we have won four times). Since 2022 we have also played in the Online Quiz League, winning promotion to Division I in our first season.
